FIELD NOTES / 001—003
Small experiments in color.
01 / PLACEMENT
Where do four coral squares belong?
Keep the same four accents and twelve ground squares. Cluster the accents in the middle to create one focal point, or trace a diagonal to guide the eye across the cushion. Try each arrangement before joining a single seam.
02 / COLOR WEIGHT
A little of your favorite yarn.
A dark center reads as a scattering of dots. The same color on the outer round becomes a strong grid. Edit A and B one round at a time and watch the small swatch and the full cushion together. Yarn quantities are not calculated here.
03 / CONNECTION
One joining yarn changes everything.
A pale join can disappear into a cream border. A charcoal join outlines every square. Keep the motifs in place and compare these boundaries with the joining-yarn picker. The preview shows color relationships, not a stitch-accurate joining method.
Before you join.
A small, focused arrangement tool for a classic 4 × 4 cushion front.
Will swapping change my motif counts?
No. Every committed swap exchanges two existing motifs. A remains four squares and B remains twelve. Pins also stay at their chosen board positions.
How do I read the assembly chart?
A and B identify color recipes. R1 C1 is the top-left corner. Place motifs left to right along each row, then join rows from top to bottom. Dashed labels identify B when printing in black and white.
Does this include a crochet pattern?
This is a layout and color planning tool, not stitch instructions. Match motif size, gauge and blocking before assembling your own cushion.
